Episode 24 - Happy Hanukkah!
Saturday Dec 12, 2020
Saturday Dec 12, 2020
Happy Hanukkah! Thanks to US Supreme Court. Listen to the brilliant analysis of Texas v. Pennsylvania in Craig's Lawyers Lounge by accomplished Colorado lawyer Tom Downey. Tom went to Georgetown Prep where he was classmates with Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch. Tom’s insights are terrific.
The Lounge stays open to welcome 18th JD DA-Elect John Kellner. This Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marines has a big job succeeding George Brauchler. Listen to John’s background and his informed views regarding leadership, politics, and prosecution.
Our Troubadour Dave Gunders has a special song for the Festival of Lights. It is called Dancing with the Tin Man and anybody who knows about Hannukah should know about gelt which is chocolate money wrapped in tin. Let us enlighten you and take you dancing with the stars; and the tin man.
Finally, the host of the show goes off on Donald Trump’s efforts to delegitimize the election he lost, using Trump’s own words against him to show how bogus is Trump’s case for fraud. It is all projection and confession with this President as illustrated by sound exhibits, and some explicit arguments.

Episode 23 - Jenna Ellis?
Saturday Dec 05, 2020
Saturday Dec 05, 2020
Jenna Ellis? Personal attorney for Donald J. Trump? Wasn’t that Roy Cohn’s job? And then Michael Cohen? Wasn’t Paul Manafort an attorney? Wasn’t Manafort’s business partner Roger Stone? Didn’t Stone come up with that “Stop the Steal” bullcrap to contest the “rigged” election of Joe Biden?
The New York Times quoted Ellis’ colleagues Stephanie Stout and Craig Silverman in their Jenna Ellis story https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/03/us/politics/jenna-ellis-trump.html. Jenna’s mentor in Greeley, Colorado was the outstanding attorney Stephanie Stout who is an exceptional guest in Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge. Listen and learn about Jenna.
Jeff Mason is another Colorado kid who has made it big. He grew up in Aurora and Littleton and now reports from the White House for Reuters. No correspondent has had more consistent interaction with Trump, and Obama. Jeff is jetting off to Georgia on Air Force One but first he does a great interview.
Troubadour Dave Gunders has a perfect rocking song titled Full Time Job about trying to make a madman happy. The song fits perfectly the job Jenna Ellis is trying to do for her scary, nutty, and powerful client.
Rep. Steven Woodrow (D-Denver) has an awesome visit in Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge. Listen to a rising political star who is also a solid Colorado lawyer. Find out what just happened in Colorado’s special legislative session and hear out his remarkable take on why so many people are Trumpist these days.

Episode 22 - Happy Thanksgiving.
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
Happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful for the tenacity and talents of State Senator Rhonda Fields and Denver Judge Gary Jackson who share their life journeys. It is entertaining and instructive to learn the lessons from these pioneering African Americans who are now standout leaders in Colorado.
Rhonda Fields had two beautiful kids and a great job when her world got wrecked by the June 20, 2005 murder of her son, Javad Marshall Fields, and Javad’s fiancée, Vivian Wolfe. Rhonda sought justice at the trials of the killers of her family. She then moved into Colorado politics where she has been a legislator for a decade. Rhonda and Craig talk turkey and Colorado’s upcoming special Covid legislative session.
Our Troubadour Dave Gunders has a wonderful song for elected leaders (e.g. Mayor Mike Hancock, Gov. Gavin Newsome) who preach one thing but do something else. This bluesy song called Do What I Say is perfect for parental hypocrites and the times in which we live.
Judge Gary Jackson has lived a remarkable life in Denver, Colorado. This African American trailblazer has been a state and federal prosecutor before establishing his own great law practice. Now, Judge Jackson has been on the bench for nearly a decade and he is scooping up rewards as mandatory retirement approaches. This is the definitive interview of one of Colorado’s legal lions.

Rundown -
Andrew Struttman - 00:03:05
Alexis King in Craig's Lawyers' Lounge - 00:39:48
Mike Foote in Craig's Lawyers' Lounge - 01:14:40
Henry Gunders - 01:36:53
Political Science. My major at Colorado College. Same with Andrew Struttman, only he went to CC’s archenemy, Denver University. I say Trump is dangerous now. Andrew says calm down. Andrew’s a Republican political pro. I am not! Listen, and decide who wins our friendly debate.
In Colorado’s First Judicial District (Jefferson and Gilpin counties), a smooth transition is underway between term-limited Republican incumbent Pete Weir and his successor, proud Democrat Alexis King. District Attorney Elect King joins me in Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge. She is fascinating.
The Lounge stays open for old pal Mike Foote. State Senator Foote is leaving the legislature but not before leaving his mark as the chief proponent of the National Popular Vote. Colorado voters just ratified Mike Foote’s legislation by passing Prop 113. We assess current events and how to survive Trump and this pandemic.
Henry Gunders survived being a Jewish teen in Germany in the 1930s. Our Troubadour’s dad describes his exodus and the amazing story of American immigrant success. Appropriately enough, the song this week is My Dad. Dave’s tribute tune and my interview with Henry Gunders is must listening. Enjoy!

Alex Kershaw - 00:03:21
Dave Gunders - 00:45:24
Joe Salazar in Craig's Lawyers' Lounge - 00:54:26
Vic Mitchell - 01:28:16
Felix Sparks! In 1993, this Colorado hero joined the parents of murdered children and me to battle the NRA regarding gun control for juveniles. Our group was called PUNCH! People United – No Children’s’ Handguns and we won big victories in the 1993 Colorado Special Legislative Session.
General Sparks was a WWII hero who survived Anzio and liberated Dachau. Alex Kershaw wrote the best book on Sparks, titled The Liberator, and it is now a hit movie on Netflix. My pal Alex Kershaw joins me to talk about his captivating new dramatization the whole world is watching.
Two prominent former Colorado legislators of different political parties join me to discuss current events. Vic Mitchell, a brave Never Trumper even as he finished second in 2018’s GOP Gov primary, returns to tell us what’s happened to the GOP and what happens next.
Former State Rep. Joe Salazar returns to Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge to discuss Trump’s fake litigation to overturn elections, and the responsibilities of Colorado lawyers and leaders now. We evaluate the Hispanic and Jewish vote and what electoral politics look like in the future.
This is our twentieth show which means 20 great songs from our Troubadour Dave Gunders. This week’s song may be my favorite. This American Dream is perfect for these troubled times, with its wonderful melody, harmonies, and lyrics, “Take this (White) House, we’re done with it.”

Episode 19 - You’re Fired!
Saturday Nov 07, 2020
Saturday Nov 07, 2020
You’re Fired! A record number of Americans decided not to vote for Donald Trump. Show today features electoral reactions of some friends of The Craig Silverman Show.
Welcome back Denver suburban mother and GOP legislative candidate Samantha Koch. We talk about the election where she and her hero Donald Trump were on the same ballot.
Laura Chapin returns for a record third visit. This bright veteran Dem political operative returns to tell us what pleased and displeased her this election. Spoiler alert. Laura is happy!
Our votes had a profound impact on Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge expert Amy Padden who ran for the big job of DA in the 18th JD. Right now, it looks like her GOP opponent John Kellner may have won by coming from way behind when some late DougCo votes emerged. Amy’s reaction is must listening.
Our Troubadour Dave Gunders has the perfect song for this consequential time in American History. Listen to Hard of Understanding and consider how it applies to our pandemic and electoral issues.
Meteorologist Marty Coniglio let Donald Trump incite him to toss his brilliant TV weathercaster career for a loop. Marty gets asked whether it was worth it. And you too get to be the judge.
Attorney/columnist Mario Nicolais is dedicated to stopping Team Trump’s efforts to avert the voters’ verdict and we discuss upcoming court battles. We also have a candid and needed talk about Rudy Giuliani, Mario’s former hero, and current star in Borat. Enjoy.

Episode 17 - Electoral College
Saturday Oct 24, 2020
Saturday Oct 24, 2020
Electoral College. It is odd the way we elect the President in America. Colorado’s voting right now on Prop 13 -- the National Popular Vote. Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge welcomes proponents and opponents.
First is Jesse Wegman, attorney/author of Let the People Pick the President: The Case for Abolishing the Electoral College. Jesse is also on the editorial board of the New York Times and contributed a dynamite column, The Radicalizer in Chief, which was part of the Times’ Sunday Feature, End Our National Crisis.
Bernard Goldberg is a renowned 14-time Emmy winner as journalist/broadcaster for CBS News, Fox News, and HBO. Bernie recounts when Trump called him at home just to chat about the presidency. Check out www.bernardgoldberg.com and this dynamite interview about Bernie’s mother’s Denver, Colorado roots.
Colorado Inside Out star David Kopel is fired up and ready to go in an election year return to Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge. David touts the benefits of voting for Colorado Props 116 and 117. Professor Kopel is opposed though to Prop 113, the National Popular Vote, and he is not shy in telling us why.
We’ve got plenty of Trump-Biden debate analysis. We discuss what and who to vote for, and why. The ballot is easy for me in 2020. It’s simple man. I’m not voting in 2020 for any member of Trump’s party. Our Troubadour Dave Gunders feels similarly and gives us his beautiful song titled, Simple Man. Enjoy.

Episode 16 - Let’s Vote!
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
Let’s vote! And not for the guy retweeting lies about Seal Team Six, and touting QAnon as nice pedophilia fighters. Really GOP? Backing our super-spreading President is super bad judgment.
Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge welcomes back Amy Padden, a dynamic Democratic candidate for 18th Judicial District DA. She gets Craig’s endorsement, and you will understand why.
The Lounge also welcomes Doug Schoen, a famous Fox News political analyst and Harvard Law grad. Doug worked on the Bill Clinton campaign and famously decided he could not back Hillary in 2016. But now, Doug Schoen has a bone to pick with Donald Trump. It's good listening.
Former DaVita CEO Kent Thiry convinces Craig and will try to convince you to yote yes on Prop B to rid the Colorado constitution of the Gallagher Amendment. Fun grilling of a Fortune 500 CEO type.
Craig explains the outcome he expects in the Second Degree Murder case of Colorado v. Matthew Dolloff.
Our Troubadour delivers once more as Dave Gunders sings “On and On her Way.” Craig and Dave contemplate the 7600-mile 11-day flight of an unnamed godwit bird from Alaska to New Zealand. What a ride!

Episode 15 - Crazy Times
Saturday Oct 10, 2020
Saturday Oct 10, 2020
Crazy Times. The Yiddish word is mashugana and it can apply to periods of time, certain situations, and/or to people. Trump is COVID-mashugana, and he has brought on crazy and divisive times. We go over the crazy things Trump said this week. We all must consider what comes next.
Good discussions help. Laura Chapin provides great talk as she feels for Kamala but not for Judge ACB. Laura preferred the Notorious RBG and wants to protect a woman’s right to choose. We discuss her opposition to Prop 115 in Colorado and why she feels that women (e.g. Jena Griswold) are not being treated fairly on social media.
Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge welcomes a fascinating prosecutor named Brian Mason. He is Chief Trial Deputy DA in the 17th Judicial District now running for the top job as Adams/Broomfield DA. Listen to his responses as I pepper Brian with questions about the sad deaths of Kate Petrocco and Elijah McClain. Then we talked Trump because, like me, Brian feels we need to speak out on Trump’s assault on rule of law.
Right-wing radical Trumpsters find instruction, propaganda, and succor from the local Salem affiliate at 710KNUS. There’s a scary connection between Denver Trump Radio and the Trump Train designed to derail an election Trump knows he’s going to lose. Bad things are planned for 10-10-2020 in Denver’s Civic Center Park. Trump will be repudiated if fair election allowed to proceed. Trump knows that.
Troubadour Dave Gunders has the perfect song for Trump and the Trumpsters now. Check out “Sorry Isn’t Good Enough” and the passionate discussion around it; including Biden’s epic Gettysburg Address.
